The HammerHead jig was inspired by legendary Tennessee smallmouth guide James Blair of Nashville, TN. Growing up on the Cumberland River, now Old Hickory Lake, James told story after story about using all different types of hair he could find to make his famous “hair jigs”. Because dyes were very limited in those days, James perfected color combinations for different water clarity and night fishing. These jigs are still very prominent today among serious smallmouth and spotted bass fisherman. Having been tutored the nature of crafting ‘hair jigs” by the legend himself, the “Hammerhead jig combination” has proven effective from bronzebacks in Lake Champlain, VT to spots in Lake Lanier, GA .
